NVIDIA GeForce Experience

Postby MTN1835 » Sat Jan 31, 2015 7:20 am

I have the following set up on my computer and am not a computer IT person for sure.

NVIDIA GeForce Experience:

GPU: GeForce GT 220
CPU: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB RAM (3.25 GB usable)
Current Resolution: 1920 x 1200, 59Hz
Driver Version: 334.89
Operating System: MS Windows 7 Professional

According to NVIDIA web site, my GeForce GT 220 or Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.00GHz
does not allow me to optimize my games on my PC but I don't know if FSX Steam can be considered a Game like some of the more action oriented games on line?

If I were to have a higher GeForce GT 220 installed, will I get a better FSX eperience as there doesn't seem to be any updates for this GT on the NIVIDIA web site.

Is this a good Driver or should I be using an higher one and if yes, how can I get a better one - download a different one from NIVIDIA?

Thanks, Tom Tobin

Tom,

The issue you are having is not only with the graphics card, but with the processor. The Pentium 4 is quite outdated at this point and with only 4GB of RAM, I'm surprised you're able to run FSX at all. You must either have the sliders near the low end otherwise you are experiencing a lot of lag as you fly, I bet.

If I were you, I wouldn't spend any money on a new graphics card, but save up and get a new desktop altogether. If you look at this link, you'll see what I mean:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu ... +4+3.00GHz

You should get yourself at least an i5 processor (preferably i7) in the 3.4 GHz or better range, at least 8GB of RAM (preferably 12GB or 16GB) and as far as a graphics card, a GeForce GTX 680 or better. You're looking at probably in the $1,000 to $1,500 range for all that.

Yikes! :o That will be a tough one to pass by "the Boss" to get a new computer.

Thanks for this information though - it is something to think about. :ugeek:
