64-bit CRJs?

Postby MTN2570 » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:46 am

I am trying to find a really good CRJ add-on to complete (temporarily) my hangar. The only ones I have seen are either 32 bit (Wilco) or not so great (Perfect Flight).
I am seeking good flight dynamics, a fully functional FMC and accurate panel so if anyone hasd any ideas...

Right now, a really good CRJ doesn't exist. I got impatient and recently bought the Wilco NextGen CRJ700/900/1000. It was only about $15 direct from Wilco, but not worth even a quarter of that. It's total crap. I've tried to fly it about ten times, and was only able to finish about four of those flights. The FMS crashes the sim about half the time, and I have never been able to get it to follow the FMS for an entire flight. It will randomly follow it sometimes with no apparent pattern as to when it does or doesn't. Once on an ILS, it seems to follow the localizer okay, but not the glideslope. Several of the hotspots on the VC don't work. The cursor changes to the hand, but nothing happens. You have to open the corresponding 2D window and click on it to actually get it to work. Kind of defeats the whole purpose. I can't believe they can actually accept money for this thing and have a clear conscience.

Aerosoft has been working on a CRJ700/900 in conjunction with Digital Aviation. It looks like it could be promising. They claim it will be on par with the PMDG planes. They're currently saying it will be out by the end of the first quarter, but I wouldn't hold my breath. It's been in development since 2010. The screenshots look pretty good though if it does ever get released. You can see more on this one here --> http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/to ... j-preview/

Integrated Development Studios (IDS) is working on a CRJ-200. The screenshots of it are stunning. I thought I was looking at a photo on one of them. If the systems coding is as good as the graphics work, this will be one amazing plane. They're just starting the systems coding, so I wouldn't look for it to be released in 2015. Maybe by Christmas if they work really fast. You can see it here --> https://www.facebook.com/CRJ2XX

Too bad you aren't operating under X Plane. J Rollon has an excellent 64 bit CRJ.

Thanks for the responses.
In a way I am glad to see that the problem goes beyond my ability to find a suitable airplane (misery loves company?)

I will keep an eye out for the possible releases mentioned (a skeptical eye).

You might want to look at the second entry in this topic in which that particular model is called out for being crap.
