A great flight for "Mountaineers"

Postby MTN2674 » Fri May 15, 2015 3:32 am

I had a conversation with Bill Hunt, MTN2469, where he mentioned flying into LOWI the "wrong way" ie Runway 08 approach, so thought I would give it a try. Found the Runway 08 RNAV approach LOWI_Approach_RNAV GNSS Y 08_11122014 and added that to a southerly RWy 19 CANE1W departure from LSZA Lugano. A very picturesque climbing and turning departure over the Swiss lakes. So, the complete flight plan was :
LSZA CANE1W ABESI ULGOD TIRUL ELMEM (ELMEM transition)RNAV08.Y LOWI
Great approach, especially in dodgy weather, when you really have to trust your instruments and I can recommend this trip to mountain enthusiasts.
The aircraft was the Dash8-Q400 by FlyJSim for X-Plane 10. Absolutely ideal for this kind of trip and in its true "Mountain" element!

Classic route and a great bird to fly it in!
