Hurricane Sandy Relief Flights

Special MTN Event – Thursday, Nov. 1, 0600 hours MST, to Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2200 hours MST.
[Don't forget – Time change Sunday]

Due to the hurricane Sandy devastation in the eastern part of the USA, Mountain Air is responding by flying B763 and B752 relief flights from our Chicago hub (KORD) into our Philadelphia, PA (KPHL) hub using official MTN cargo flight #905. The extensive devastation is so wide spread that other MTN charter flights are also needed from Denver (KDEN) to KPHL, and Dallas-Ft. Worth (KDFW) to KPHL.

To have a special “Sandy” award for participation added to your awards wall, and earn 30 additional bonus points, you must:

1) Fly the flight ONLINE and have the PIREP filed within the specified event time window.

2) When you file your flight plan with VATSIM, you are required to enter in your flight plan Comment area, “Mountain Air Sandy Relief Flight”.

3) Send a Private Message notifying me you have completed your online flight and your PIREP is filed (click on my picture to access my profile, then click on "Send Private Message").

As always, you are welcome to use any aircraft and/or route of your choice.

The official MTN flight is: KORD-KPHL (Flight # 905) (B763 or B752) (856nm/1.7hr) (FL310): ORD6 GIJ J146 CXR EWC JST BOJID1

- MTN's cargo ramp at KORD is north of runway 27L.
- MTN's cargo ramp at KPHL is at building C, north of the taxiway K5, near the runway 9L threshold.

As mentioned, there is also a need for online charter flights KDEN-KPHL and KDFW-KPHL. If you provide a charter relief flight for one of these city-pair routes, you will need to create your own flight plan route.

To help others know when you are going to fly one of the relief flights, please post a short “POSTREPLY” to this post stating where and when you are going to fly. This will possibly allow folks to self-create “mini-group” flights of their own design, and that would be great!

Note: While a pilot can fly as many of these flights as they want, only one flight per pilot will earn the special award and 30 bonus points.

For those that would like to donate to the Red Cross in support of their hurricane Sandy relief efforts, here is their link:

Thanks and hope to see MTN make a great show of support!

I think you mean any of us to PM you, not email you????? We do not have your e-mail address.

This is cool idea and I will participate in this.

Barring last minute unexpected real life schedule change I plan to fly this Friday Nov the 2nd departing from KORD at about 6:30 pm EST to 7 pm EST. I will be using 767-300ERF freighter plane.

And I have cool freeware Sunskyjet KPHL scenery that is ASTOUNDING payware quality to use for this event!!!

You are correct. I mean Private Message on this system.

The easy way to do that is click on my picture and from my profile page, you can Private Message me.

I will change my original post.

Thank you.

I think I'll join Ahron and fly out of ORD at 1830 EST tomorrow evening. I have to agree about his assessment of the Sunsky scenery. I've had it for a couple of years now and really enjoy flying into PHL.

FYI........ I just tested it and you can send either an Email or Private Message from this forum system. If you clcik on my picture (Profile) you will see it gives you the option of Email or Private Mail. The downside to using email is if the person does not have an updated, correct email address on file in their profile, it will not work.

For this event, please send me a Private Message (PM) as stated in an earlier post.

Thanks............

I am ready to fly departing KORD at 6:30pm EST tonight barring any technical malfunction caused by vatsim servers.
