Joining & Membership

How do I join Mountain Air?

Go to the menu item "Join the Airline" under the General/Join menu link, or click here to get to the join page.

Once I fill out the join page, how long will it take to be accepted?

The Member Services Manager processes the new join applications. He does this several times a week and usually every day, but there may be times that it could take up to three days. If you haven't heard from us within a week, please send an e-mail to the site administrator using the link at the bottom of the page, and we'll check to see if there's a technical issue. The most frequent reason new members don't hear from us is that the e-mail address you gave us when joining was invalid or misspelled, or your mailbox is full and your acceptance e-mail bounces.

Once I'm accepted, how do I get started?

Go to the "New Pilots" page under the Pilot Lounge menu, or click here. That page will provide step by step instructions on getting started.

I had to give up flight simming for a while and I dropped off the active list. Do I need to apply again to rejoin?

No, we don't purge our member list. If you've become inactive, just log a PIREP to reactivate. You'll be automatically reinstated with the rank and points you had when you became inactive. If you've forgotten your password, just e-mail our Member Services Department.

Mountain Air Operations

I don't see any hubs listed. Where are they?

We don't use hubs. We're a regional commuter carrier utilizing smaller jets and turboprops on short to medium range routes. We use multiple flight centers based at many of North America's major airports.

I like to fly 747s and A380s. Why aren't they listed on your fleet page?

Mountain Air is primarily a regional commuter airline. We don't use aiplanes that big and don't have any in our fleet. There are plenty of virtual airlines that use the mega-jets, we're just not one of them.

Do I have to fly using an online network to be a member?

No. We allow flights to be flown and posted that are not on a live network. However, you can advance in rank faster if you do fly online.

Do I have to use the dispatch system to fly an official Mountain Air flight?

No. The dispatch system just makes it easier to use FSACARS and is the only way to get your flight to show as "Scheduled" on the Flight Board. For more information, look at the "Flight" section of the Pilot Manual found on the training documents page.

I see from the FlightBoard that you use Teamspeak. How do I set it up and get started?

Go to the training documents page and download the Teamspeak Manual. It gives step by step instructions.

I know your motto is short hops, but am I allowed to fly long hauls if I want to?

Yes, but with limited credit. We offer no further flight credit after 3 hours of flight time.

Common Problems

I am having trouble logging onto the Secure Database. What should I do?

Passwords are case sensitive. Make sure your caps lock key is off, and that you're using the proper case for your password. Also make sure you're using your database password. It is different from your forum password.

I can't remember my forum password. What should I do?

Contact the Member Services Department. Go here for contact information.

FSACARS Issues

I can't figure out how to install FSACARS. Where can I get help?

We have a training manual specifically for that. Go here for the manual. You must be logged in to download it.

My flight data doesn't show up or is incomplete (NM to destination, FL, etc. not showing)on the FlightBoard. What's wrong?

If your flight is not showing up at all, that means you've failed to get connected to our server. Make sure you've followed the install instructions and your MTN.ini file is in the correct folder. If your flight is on the FlightBoard but there's no destination and enroute data, you're likely flying from or to an airport that doesn't exist in your apts.txt file for FSACARS. You need an updated file. Check this forum post for instructions.
