The Los Angeles Hub of Mountain Air (MA) has been around almost since
the beginning of the airline. Destinations from KLAX include Oregon, Nevada,
Arizona, Baja California and of course within California itself. With more and more
destinations being added as quickly as possible. Most of our routes are flown
with prop or turboprop aircraft, but there are a few jet routes.
If you are an online pilot, you will enjoy flying in the LAX and
SFO areas, where traffic is most frequent. If you enjoy flying to smaller
airports on charter or cargo runs, we have those also. Plans are to keep adding to
the KLAX Route System as much as possible to give our pilots a larger variety of
destinations.
Below are some useful links for new and veteran virtual pilots
who have never flown online, or who have not flown online in quite some time. While MA encourages it's pilots to fly online,
it is not a requirement.
VATSIM (Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network) Everything
begins here to get you flying online. Many tutorials assist the new virtual
pilot in getting their virtual careers off the ground (no pun intended). To fly
online, you must register with VATSIM and obtain a Pilot ID. This is a free
service and takes only a few minutes.
Squawkbox3 (SB3), SB3 is the interface with the VATSIM server
system which allows voice ATC communication as well as real time weather,
filing flight plans, private voice channel and many other features. This is a free program to use.
FSUIPC
by Peter Dowson. This a .dll file necessary to enable SB3 to communicate with
MS Flight Simulator and for MSFS to communicate with third party software. This
program is FREEWARE for the basic features or you can pay for access to the
advanced features.
FSSCREEN This is a great
little program that lets you take screenshots while you're flying. These
screenshots are great to post on our gallery. Mountain Air forums has a
section for screeenshots also. This is a Free program to use.
There no doubt will be many questions that can not be answered
here. Please contact Hub Management
and we will get you some answers ASAP. ( change # to @ )
