Seatlle Four Mountains Loop Cargo Delivery -
Operation begins from KSEA Seattle Tacoma International. Pilots are to load 1200 pounds of cargo and the appropriate fuel to complete this 412 NM loop through south central Washington and into northern Oregon. This flight is certainly one of the most enjoyable in clear weather, requiring navigation around MT. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. This route is a challenging route for the B1900D, but requires careful fuel planning. Flying at full gross weight will ensure a trip into the trees. Pilots may select their aircraft of choice, the DH6 Twin Otter is excellent, but sacrifices some speed. The airfields can be deceiving due to the surrounding high terrain. Accurate control over your rate of descent and airspeed makes all the difference on these airfields. As usual, turbulence, high terrain and and low visibility conditions mean extra caution should be exercised.
