After months of negotiation, we have been awarded a contract to fly mail in
Alaska! This is a great chance for us to work with the Virtual US Postal Service (real USPS would
probably sue if we used their name!). Because of the type of flying required for these routes, there
will be some restrictions placed on the pilots. Below is a listing of Mail Route
Requirements:
VFR Only - No Exceptions
DO NOT fly in the
clouds...we could lose our contracts for FAR violations. Within 1200 ft of the ground,
you only need 1 mile visiblity and clear of clouds. Picking your way up canyons, following
rivers, following roads, reading the map...great fun and a good skill builder too!
Aircraft selection is up to the pilot. Please bear in mind some of these strips are 1000 ft.
long gravel.
Have Fun!!
Why should I fly the mail routes??
