PAJN Juneau Mail Route 2 - Flight No's: JM02a - JM02b

Route 2 takes you on a Round Robin mail excursion west out of the ever popular Valdez AK towards Anchorage and up
the canyons of Central Alaska. Runways are short and the pucker factor is long.
Be prepared!

Logbook: Go west out of Valdez and turn right at second inlet. Follow the glacier north while climbing until you see a long, narrow lake and follow the left shore. Continue for 10 miles and look for an airport on right side of a mountain!

Jonesville Mine (JVM)

Rwy 3/21: 1450 ft.


Logbook: Head west out of Sheep Mountain and follow the very large valley westbound. After the 5th river inlet on the right, watch for airport. The airport is on the right side of the valley alongside a lake.

Bold (A13)

Elevation - 900 ft.
Rwy 14/32: 1000 ft.


Logbook: Head 180 deg.out of Jonesville mine and you'll cross a major river. Look for some lighted towers and a small river valley on the left. Follow the river valley to a lake, then follow it east. Bold Airport is small and hard to spot. This is the most difficult landing on the route!

Girdwood (AQY)

Logbook: There will be a series of mountain passes to clear southbound enroute to Girdwood. Very often, Girdwood is shrouded in low clouds. If this is the case, you're screwed! No IFR AUTHORIZED! The runway is not a big challenge, if you can find it.

Logbook: Fly 180 out of Girdwood, turn left at large body of water. Follow the large inlet east until you hit large mountains...well, don't actually HIT them! On other side of the mountains, on a tiny stretch of land, is Whittier Airport.
