Route 10
by Ron Jorgensen - MTN1652
This route is Amphib only. It is designed for flight at low altitudes. Varying weather is suggested to change the difficulty of the flights. Splash flights are VFR ONLY! No autopilot either!! If you want to fly high watching an autopilot, this division is not for you.
Flight Plan - A13 (Bold) - 3H3 (Cottonwood Lake) - 62AK (Willis Lake SPB) - Bold
Distance - Ummm..depends?
WX - Set weather to 2,000' Overcast 8 Miles in light Rain winds 220/08..
This a Round Robin out of Bold, Alaska.
Depart Bold on R/W 32 (watch out for the tree at the end of runway), turn northwesterly and follow the Ekluktna Lake out at 1800'. At the end of the lake you can scoot thru the pass in front of you. When you are over the Kaink Arm drescend to 1100' and turn to approximately 355 deg and Cottonwood Lake will be in your 12 o’clock about 6 miles (see picture) Land on W/W24 here, unload a passenger , depart for Willis Lake SPB (62AK). It will be 231 deg @ 6 ˝ miles. This is a small lake so watch your descend/speed carefully. (See picture)
Drop off the other fisherman, depart back to Bold which is at 121 deg 18.5 miles. Return to Bold the reverse of coming out flying at 1800'.. Watch out for those trees upon landing.
Ron's Advice: I would suggest using the GPS Map as a guide. Jeff's Advice: When approaching Willis SPB plan on breaking N and turning back WSW to catch the long axis of this puddle.
