Route 4

by Ron Jorgensen - MTN1652

This route can be flown with any Amphibian aircraft you wish.  It is designed for flight at low altitudes.  Varying weather is suggested to change the difficulty of the flights.  Splash flights are VFR ONLY!  No autopilot either!!  If you want to fly high watching an autopilot, this division is not for you.

Departure Point - Chaurijhari, Nepal (VNCJ) /  Amphibian Aircraft Required!

Arrival Point - Lake 10NM North of Dolpa, Nepal (VNDP)

Approximate distance = 55NM

Ron's Advice:  Depart VNCJ and head towards VNDP.  Over VNDP, fly north approximately 10NM until you see the lake.  Land and shutdown, go fishing, then fire back up and return to VNCJ.  Beware of high altitudes - Lake is at over 11,000 ft MSL!

JY's Advice:  Unless you are flying a turbine, gaining enough altitude is tough.  You cannot go straight to VNDP so you get to weave through the mountains.  Beware of strong winds and turbulence in the mountains.

How Tough Do You Want it to Be?

Difficulty Rating Set your weather to...
Easy Fair weather, light winds, good visibility - good for sightseeing only, no challenge
Moderate Real World Weather...who knows what you will get?
Tough 10000 Scattered / 5 miles visibility / moderate precip / Winds any direction 15+ knots
Downright Sporty! 9500 Broken / 1 mile visibility / Heavy precip / Winds any direction 30+knots
