Route 7

by Ron Jorgensen - MTN1652

This route can be flown with any Amphibian/Float aircraft you wish.  It is designed for flight at low altitudes.  Varying weather is suggested to change the difficulty of the flights.  Splash flights are VFR ONLY!  No autopilot either!!  If you want to fly high watching an autopilot, this division is not for you.

Departure Point - CBS4 (Mule Creek)

Arrival Point - 3Z9 (Haines floatplane, AK)

Approximate distance = 50NM

Map of the route on real sectional chart

Ron's Advice:  Depart Mule Creek (CBS4) heading South East down the valley.  Just before you reach Klukwan you will pick up the Chillkat River.  Follow this down passing to the right of Haines (PAHN).  Continue on to the NDB 245.  At the NDB turn a hard  left and land in the water on the far side of the peninsula

JY's Advice:  Finding the right valley departing Mule Creek can be a challenge.  Once you find the right one, you are on your way.

How Tough Do You Want it to Be?

Difficulty Rating Set your weather to...
Easy Real World Weather - roll the dice
Moderate At Mule Creek - 4000 overcast 8 miles vis / Haines - 1000 overcast 8 miles vis
Tough At Mule Creek - 3500 overcast 3 miles vis / Haines - 600 overcast 3 miles vis
Downright Sporty! At Mule Creek - 3000 overcast 1 miles vis / Haines - 400 overcast 1 miles vis
