Fly Oceans and Mountains!
Take a beautiful trip from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Quito, Ecuador. You'll hop down through the Lesser Antilles to Venezuela. From there, you'll work your way down the Andes Mountains, across Colombia, and on to Ecuador.
Fly the route in a piston powered aircraft for a real challenge. Getting across the Andes without a blower under the hood really makes the mountain passes tricky! Field elevations are as high as 9200 feet! You better pay attention to density altitude!

The flight plan is listed below. There are 15 flights to cover the 2,075 miles from San Juan to Quito. Use real world weather to make it realistic and interesting! Flights may be flown online with the group or offline at your convenience!
Fly the aircraft of your choice at 150-200 KIAS. This is a low and slow tour. Fly online with the group when you can, and don't worry if you miss a section of the tour. No one is keeping score!

The departure schedule is subject to change and will be updated from time to time. So watch it closely if you want to join the online fun! Most of the group flights will be on Saturday, with a few weeknights thrown in.
Group departure times are based on the Pacific Time Zone, so all dates and times listed will be based on west coast time. That is UTC-7 during daylight savings time, and UTC-8 after October 28.
It has been quite some time since our last Mountain Air tour! Let's make this a tremendous success and fill the Caribbean skies with MTN callsigns on VATSIM! Hopefully, it will generate a little interest in the Caribbean Basin for new pilots wanting interested in joining the San Juan hub!
Come on out and give it a try! You'll see some familiar country, see new airports, and get a little taste of the beautiful Caribbean and South American scenery. This invitation is open to all Mountain Air pilots, regardless of hub affiliation or rank, and all hours flown may be logged for full flight credit!
