The Flight Deck

By Verne Cotton, MTN005

Mountain Air Needs You to Volunteer

Seven years ago Mountain Air began with four simmers as an experiment.  While other virtual airlines of that time featured long flights and centered their operations in Chicago, we saw another more exciting way to fly: short hops through the challenging mountainous terrain of the west.  The idea caught on immediately and we still grow to this day with over 1200 numbers issued.  But with growth comes demands and the need for more volunteer staffing.

Yesterday Chad Nichols and I met at his home and discussed the state of our airline.  As we worked together, we saw at once that we needed people to fill the many leadership positions that have developed with our rapid growth.  We looked at the organization chart and restructured it so that positions are now functionally more consistent with one another.

If you will click /corp/orgchart.asp  you will see many jobs in the airline that remain unfilled.

This new organization is lean and each position that you see is key or it would not be on the chart.  All we need now is YOU.  I know that with 120+ active pilots we have the talent to fill every one of these jobs.  We can no longer rely on the few to do the jobs of the many.  If we want Mountain Air to grow and prosper so that we can share what we have with other simmers then we must step forward and volunteer.

Carefully review the organization chart.  Review the job descriptions at /corp/jobs.asp pick out a job that would interest you and contact human resources at the link at the top of the page and apply.  As you can see there is a lot of room at the top at Mountain Air.

There is much for us to do, but many hands will make the burden light.

            Blue Skies, Verne
